So, what if we told you that wine is good for you? Sounds like a dream come true, huh? Well, it’s no joke! Scientific studies are proving that a bit of red wine is totally beneficial for the human body!
In 2015, a study conducted in the University of Negev in Israel by Ben-Gurion found that only one glass of wine was exactly the right amount for the majority of people.
The research spanned almost 230 people, including type 2 diabetics, to check the health effects of average alcohol consumption.
This specific group was interesting because the people in it were at risk of heart problems. They had markedly low levels of HDL cholesterol, a substance that aids in protecting your heart.
In the study, every participant followed the same diet and had either 5 ounces of water or red wine or white wine with dinner each night.
Red wine was ultimately linked to boosting HDL relative to water and white wine, and those who drank any wine had better sleep quality than those who drank water.
Even if, however, you don’t have type 2 diabetes, the study showed that you still stand to gain from drinking wine.
A professional at Cleveland Clinic’s Heart and Vascular Institute, Julia Zumpano, says that red wine has fewer calories than other alcohol and is loaded with antioxidants.
Red wine also reduces the risks of coronary artery disease, stroke, and congestive heart failure.
In fact, a 103 year old woman left a few key pieces of wisdom before she passed away. “The key to a long, healthy life is to not drink too much, but then again, don’t drink too little either.”
