If you who grew up in the early 2000s then you’ll no doubt have nostalgic memories of watching this teen idol in Lizzie McGuire, or listening to Metamorphosis on repeat…
Her film debut came early at the age of 11 when she starred in Casper Meets Wendy, an average movie which was nonetheless brightened by her presence.
Some of the other shows she had small roles in were Chicago Hope and The Soul Collector.
Hilary Duff became an unstoppable force of nature immediately after the smash success of Lizzie McGuire.
She was every girl’s role model. Naturally, she went on to launch Stuff by Duff, her very own clothing line!
Shooting off her Lizzie McGuire success, she starred in a couple of other movies which became instant classics. Movies such as A Cinderella Story, Agent Cody Banks, and Raise Your Voice defined the childhood of an entire generation.
She was the voice of her generation. Even this picture of her holding a flip-phone makes me all nostalgic!
She soon evolved from being a child star to being a veritable diva, releasing a bunch of smash pop hits.
This evolution was well alluded to in Metamorphosis.
Following that, she went through a “skinny” phase, losing a ton of weight that got us all worried and concerned.
She also had to deal with her parents’ divorce, her own breakup with Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, and a stalker who threatened to kill himself to get some attention from his “idol.”
This would be enough to make anyone reach a breaking point, and she was only 18 at the time.
But she stood firm. In 2009, she appeared in a few Gossip Girl episodes, she was looking healthy and well. But critics complained that she was now too old to believably play a teenager. Oh, how the time flies!
In 2011, she announced that she was pregnant with her first child. Also, she became a total fashion icon!
And she’s now raising an equally adorable son named Luca!
And yet she remains cool and edgy and awesome as hell!
She’s matured beautifully, and continues to remain a great role model for women everywhere.
She even released a couple new songs recently, including ‘Sparks’, the Tinder song! Here’s hoping for a new album!
I’m pumped as hell about any upcoming projects from HilDuff, but in the meantime I’m going to be tweeting #MotherhoodGoals with pictures of her and Luca!
