Riding a bike is already one of the greenest ways to travel, and it just got even more environmentally friendly over in Poland with the creation of this cool new path.

This bike lane is powered entirely by the sun. It stores up solar energy throughout the day. Then, at night, that energy is used to help the path glow in the dark.

The path is located near the town of Lidzbark Warminski, which is in the northern part of the country. It was created by researchers working at TPA Instytut Badań Technicznych Sp. z o.o. and was inspired by a similar project, entitled the ‘Starry Night bike lane’ over in the Netherlands.

The big difference between the two bike lanes is that the Polish one is completely solar-powered, whereas the Dutch version makes use of LED lights.
