Hearing her precious wiener dog, Mia, was expecting, Monica Sanchez called upon Belinda Schenk. As a well-known maternity photographer, the woman captured just a few memorable photos of the pup’s new family. On behalf of the internet, we’re hoping this delightful trend is here to stay.
“In my mind, since I specialize in maternity and newborns, I’m thinking, ‘OK, another regular maternity session,'” Schenk said while remembering the initial phone call with Sanchez.
“But at the end she said, ‘It’s actually for my dogs,’ and I wanted to laugh, because I was shocked!”
Needless to say, the photo shoot was put on the books.
Mona captured each and every special moment of little Mia’s glorious pregnancy … and then some.
The result? A beautiful collection of photos featuring the mom and her six brand new babies.
Did we mention they’re all totally and unbelievably adorable dachshunds (you might know them by the nickname ‘Weiner Dogs’)?
“I had never done [a dog shoot] before, and I was excited to do so,” Schenk explained.
Accepting the one-of-a-kind offer, the photographer sought out a few unique props to include in the photo session.
“A friend of mine crotchets and I told her, ‘You’ve got to help me make bonnets for them!” Sanchez explained. “We were told their heads were as tiny as gum balls. We just winged it, but it all worked out.”
Six pup-sized bonnets later, the scene was set. One adorable little cap for each and every adorable little fur ball was the perfect touch.
As you can see, the newborns were absolutely delightful from the moment they arrived!
Apparently, mother Mia set quite an example during the entire photo shoot. She sat quietly and patiently awaited instruction during the entire ordeal.
“Mia was very, very well trained,” Schenk remembered of the new mom.
As for the pups?
When they weren’t enjoying an incredibly cute slumber, the brand-new liter sat right next to their mother.
A fluffy white blanket was the ideal photoshoot backdrop! We’re thinking the pups didn’t disapprove of its fuzziness either.
Just in case you needed another reason to take a trip to the pet store …
… here’s a closeup of that soft black coat and wet little nose.
It’s a good thing Sanchez captured those precious moments early on. The brood is already growing up too fast!
Weeks old in this photo, they’re (of course) still cuter than ever. Just look at all those floppy ears!
We wish you luck in your later years puppies! May you live a life full of bones, backyard digging, and bountiful naps. We’ll make sure to check back in for the 6-month photos.
If you agree that these delightful maternity pics are simply adorable, go ahead and SHARE the precious pups with your friends and family members on Facebook!
