Born to a pair of backyard breeders, Pablo and Picasso were destined for life in a kennel. With an unusual facial deformity, Picasso barely had a chance at adoption … and the clock was ticking. Separated and scheduled for euthanization, Pablo and Picasso threw ’em off the scent! Sniffing their way into our hearts, the brothers stumbled upon their forever home.
Generations of inbreeding left poor Picasso with a twisted and deformed jaw.
While possibly the sweetest pup on the planet, he wasn’t given the love and care he deserved.
The two were surrendered to a shelter, spending only a few moments together before Pablo was adopted.
With his brother gone, Picasso wasn’t allowed to stick around any longer. The shelter felt it best to put him to sleep.
… that’s when Luvable Dog Rescue stepped in to help!
“I just happened to ask [if they] had any unusual-looking or special needs dogs,” Luvable Dog Rescue’s executive director Liesl Wilhardt explained.
“[They] sent me Picasso’s shelter intake photo. He was curled in a dog bed, and looked very sad,” Liesl remembered.
“His twisted face was startling, but he had soft and gentle eyes, and for me it was love at first sight!”
Surprisingly enough, Pablo’s adoption fell through!
Getting wind of the news, Luvable Animal Rescue instantly went on a hunt to find the long lost brother.
The no-kill non-profit was thankfully able to reunite the boys after moths apart.
It appeared fate had another plan in the works.
.. one that included a life-changing tooth removal for little Picasso!
Given a clean bill of health, the brothers will officially available for adoption.
Luvable Dog Rescue promised Pablo and Picasso would come as a pair!
Suffering through the hardships, the adorable pups said farewell to the ache … head, heart, and tooth included.
