Don’t even try to hold back the tears. This one is going to get you…
One of the most difficult things in life is losing a parent, especially at an early age. Dads have always been every young boy’s hero, you learn everything from him, and he is always seen as the biggest, strongest person in your life.Losing a parent at any age is incredibly difficult but it’s even tougher when you’re still young. Losing a father is especially hard on boys, and one gets that more than young Jett and Jace Kellogg. The boys tragically lost their daddy, Boe, to cancer. Fox Five News’ Surprise Squad knew that it would take a little extra love and care to help these youngsters heal, and they accepted the challenge.
Jace is only 10, but he already found his dream job: to be just like his dad and join the ranks of bull riders. He said, “It gets your adrenaline going. I love the sport because my dad did it and I look up to him.” Whenever Jace speaks about his dad, it is difficult for him to hold back his heartbreak. “I still get emotional about it,” he says, fighting through tears.
After hearing the sad and tragic story, the Surprise Squad decided to go all out for the boys and give them an experience that would truly be unforgettable in order to try and cheer them up as much as they could. In the interview earlier, the youngsters spoke about their love of Professional Bull riding, or PBR, and that their favorite rider was the famous J.B. Mauney, current world champion. When the news host brings them outside to reveal their surprise, the boys couldn’t believe their eyes!
To the boys’ excitement and delight, a caravan pulls up to the house with three bulls inside! Better yet, their hero Mauney himself appears out of the back of the caravan! Even still, Mauney held yet another surprise, but we’ll let you fight through your own tears to find that out in the video below.
After watching these heartbroken little boys crack a smile and talk to their hero, viewers are sure to feel that warm and fuzzy feeling after witnessing the goodness and kindness the world has to offer. “You’ll be seeing him a lot more in a couple years,” Mauney says.
We won’t spoil it for you, but we will say that the Surprise Squad granted the Kellogg boys a wish that no one else would be able to fulfill as a heart-melting tribute to their father. By the end of the show, not even the anchors could hold back the tears!
Stories such as these remind the world that love still exists, even after someone passes. The connection between father and son can never fade, and the Kellogg boys now know that even though their dad is no longer in this world, his love will remain forever. As for Fox News Five’s Surprise Squad, they have truly shown that giving is far better than receiving. Now excuse me while I wipe the tears off of my keyboard…
