Within two weeks, Claudia Dubreuil had her dream house. While slightly unconventional to most, it was everything she’d wanted and more. Built entirely from industrial size shipping containers, the home is wowing curious onlookers with it luxurious and modern feel.
After speaking with a skilled team of professionals, Dubreuil was ready to start the design process. Working with a few creative structural engineers and contractors, the woman decided on a specific frame that suited her taste. Shockingly, her four chosen containers came to a total cost of $11,440 ($2860 each).
Once the steel boxes had been properly cut and welded together, the shipping containers were delivered to Dubreuil’s doorstep … or lack thereof. Builders arrived shortly after to assemble the elegant two-story living space.
Surprisingly enough, the process took less an 24 hours to complete! The next step was to cover the containers in honey-stained pinewood panelling.
Making sure the home’s concrete floors wouldn’t be icy cold during the Canadian winters,Dubreuil insisted heated floors be added to the design.
Adding a luxurious element to the space, expansive windows and clear sliding garage doors were installed. They were the perfect finishing touches to take in the amazing wooded views.
The kitchen was equally as impressive. Complete with stainless steel appliances, the space has a slightly modern feel to it.
Dubreuil made sure to include everything a person would need to prepare a gourmet meal. The space definitely exudes a high quality and expensive design.
Living the dream once more, Dubreuil opted for a unique spiral staircase instead of more traditional steps. The dark hardwood floors added the perfect touch of elegance.
The master bedroom is a sight for anyone’s sore eyes and features an indoor as well as outdoor shower.
Complete with electric lighting and a soaking tub, Dubreuil’s master suite is more like a spa than anything else.
Living in her dream home, the woman is here to stay. However, it doesn’t matter too much, can always ship out somewhere else.
