After Losing His Father, This Young Boy Was Treated to an Amazing Surprise, Courtesy of Cam Newton

Cam Newton had no idea what Colin Toler had been through when he handed him the ball after scoring a touchdown.

Every time he scores a touchdown, Carolina Panther Cam Newton hands the ball to one lucky fan in the crowd, and the latest recipient was more deserving than ever.

Newton gave the ball away to 6-year-old Colin Toler. What the NFL star didn’t knew, was that Colin had just lost his father.

Colin’s dad had promised his son that he’d take him to a Panthers game before his death, but sadly, his condition worsened rapidly, and he didn’t make it. So, shortly after the death, a few family friends got together to buy some tickets for Colin and his two grandfathers instead.

The moment was almost lost as Green Bay Packers linebacker hauled the ball away immediately after the 2nd-quarter touchdown. Clearly a bit of a sore loser. Newton refused to break tradition, though, chasing down the ball and running it directly to young Colin.

In an interview with WSET13, Colin spoke about the experience: “I was like oh gosh, oh gosh! Am I going to be on the big screen or am I going to be on TV?! I was jumping up and down like yeah! The back people were like, ‘can I take your picture?’ And I was like yeah, and the side people gave me high fives and stuff, it was pretty fun!”

While going through an extremely tough time, Colin was given a small moment of utter joy, and a souvenir to hold onto forever in honour of his father who was gone way too soon.
