After a Building Caught Fire, You'll Never Believe the Crazy Way This Family Saved Their Baby!

They were on the third floor of the building with nowhere to turn…

This family thought of the only way they could give their infant a chance to survive…

This family couldn’t believe their eyes when the building they were in burst into flames. The apartment building in Philadelphia began billowing through the walls one fateful morning, injuring 9 people. It also, sadly, left many families with no escape.

According to local authorities, the fire began burning through the complex at around 4:30 in the morning. It moved rapidly through the building and resulted in 75 firefighters attempting to put it out.

As the flames spread and surrounded the doors of residents’ homes, many families were trapped inside the inferno. Some people, in a flurry of panic, jumped out the windows to avoid being burned alive. One family in particular had no choice but to throw their infant out of the window in the hope that the child would land in the arms of a policeman.

As people were rescued or managed to escaped, they were forced to stand in front of the tragic scene, watching their belongings disappear in a blaze of fire and thick, black smoke. One man, Tyrone Cole, who was in the building visiting his partner, decided he couldn’t just stand by and watch it happen. He then thrust himself into the flames in an attempt to help the firefighters save people trapped inside. He managed to rescue seven lucky individuals!

His heroism came at a cost- he is currently still hospitalized with second-degree burns across most of his body.

“When I got to the hospital, it felt like everything was burning except for my lips,” Tyrone said as he lay covered in white bandages. “Something just told me to get up and just help everybody.”

It’s insane to think that so much damage could be done in such a short amount of time. Within twenty minutes of the arrival of the firefighters, the blaze was extinguished. They couldn’t, however, save the building, which ended up looking like the charred remains of what it once was.

Three individuals were taken to Temple Hospital for treatment, and the Red Cross is working towards helping five more families after they lost their homes to the fire right before the holiday season.

Not all stories have a happy ending, but thankfully no one was killed in the fire. It only goes to show how fleeting life is and how important it is to care for one another.
