Over the last few years, we’ve seen a huge rise in dash-cam usage. These little cameras are capturing all sorts of crazy incidents. Here are some examples!
1. Innocent guy gets blamed for this accident, but his dash cam saves the day!
This clip shows YouTube user cristian1994ipod driving home from school. He reaches an intersection and starts driving across. Unfortunately, a van pulls out on the right, running a red light in the process.
The van crashes into Cristian’s car. Luckily, the airbags help him to stay safe, but he can’t believe what happens next. The cops arrive on the scene and the van driver starts blaming Cristian for the accident, saying that he was the one who ran the red light. Fortunately, he had his dash-cam handy and showed the officers the footage, proving that he had done nothing wrong.
Bikers benefit from dash-cams too.
Even if you don’t have a dashboard, you can still make use of a dash cam. Just look at this motorcyclist, who was wearing a camera on his helmet when a car drove straight into his bike.
The incident occurred in San Francisco and was uploaded by YouTuber user Legitimate Business Man. He explained, “The driver of the car clearly blows his red light and hits me in the intersection at least 5-6 seconds after his light had turned red. My heavily customized 2011 Daytona 675 was destroyed in an instant, but I managed to land on my feet after getting launched into the air by his windscreen.”
Dash-cams can also capture crazy natural phenomena. Like meteors!
Wow, just look at this footage! Filmed in Russia, this clip shows a meteor flying towards the Earth. The incident occurred in Chelyabinsk back in 2013 and injured nearly 1,500 people. No fatalities were caused, but the force and velocity of the meteor created a huge shockwave that damaged over 7,000 buildings.
Even plane crashes have been caught on dash-cam!
Another shocking clip here as a driver manages to capture the moment a huge plane crashed down to ground. The flight was TransAsia Airways Flight 235 and most of the passengers on-board were killed in the crash. It was a tragic event, but footage like this helps the experts figure out what went wrong and make the necessary changes to prevent future accidents.
Dash-cams can keep you safe from scammers.
You might have heard about scams like this one. Certain drivers are purposefully causing accidents by braking suddenly and forcing the people behind them to crash. Some scammers even simply reverse into the cars behind them to create the illusion of an accident. Then, they ask the innocent drivers to pay up.
The scam often works because the accidents look real, and it looks like the driver of the rear car is the culprit. Fortunately, when YouTube user Herman Sham fell victim to the scam, he had his dash-cam at the ready.
We hope that these videos have enlightened you about dash-cam usage. If you don’t have one yet, go buy one! And be sure to SHARE this article with friends and family.
